Escape to the Cotswolds

Escape to the Cotswolds and stay at Well furlong Retreats Shepherd Hut

Are you looking for a break away from the hustle and bustle of the city? Then this countryside retreat nestled in the Cotswolds is the place for you.

Well Furlong Retreats is a luxury Shepherd's hut nestled in the beautiful countryside of the Cotswolds, surrounded by 80 acres of organic farmland where you can roam and enjoy the beautiful countryside views.

It is the perfect place to escape to nature, relax and unwind as well as head out on adventures and explore the area.

The Shepherds hut is really spacious but cosy at the same time.

The kitchen is fully equipped to cook up a storm, comfy sofas and a wood burning stove to relax in the lounge (zoned heating is also installed to stay warm and cosy all year round)

There is the dreamiest of bathrooms with a dual shower and a bed so comfy I wanted to swap it for my own

The hut sleeps up to 4 people and is dog friendly.

The outside decking area has a sunken hot tub where you can relax, star gaze into the evening or even catch the northern lights which we were so lucky to see, you also have loungers and a table and chairs for alfresco dining.

We enjoyed the hot tub on a autumn afternoon and then in the evening we were so lucky to be staying here when the Northern Lights were popping off! And what a display they put on for us as the shepherds hut is located amongst the countryside there is very very little light pollution so it's fantastic for stargazing as well

What we got up to during our stay

Walks from the front door - Bredon Hill

Bredon Hill is right at the very tippy top of the Cotswolds National Park, sitting at 299m it's a beautiful place to explore and take in the views of the surrounding area, including the Malverns in the distance.

Make sure you don't miss the Elephant Stone which is pretty cool.

We did a 6 mile circular from the shepherds hut up onto Bredon Hill and then down into Elmley Castle for a delicious pub lunch. There are so many thatched roof houses in Elmley Castle, which are a beautiful sight to see.

If you are ever in the Cotswolds I highly recommend this walk and you can start it from any of the surrounding villages.

Wild swimming location - Watersedge Club

A 20minute drive from the hut is the Watersedge Club where we went for a sauna and a dip in the lake, you can go longer wild swim session/swim but you do need a tow float for this.

They have a spa, saunas, coffee cabin for coffee and cake post swim, and you can also book paddleboarding sessions, yoga, sound baths and more.

Villages to visit - Broadway

20 minutes from the Shepherds hut is the super cute town of Broadway, with lovely shops and of course the famous Broadway tower (which we didn't get to this time round)

The pretty High Street is lined with horse chestnut trees and includes a mixture of period houses & picturesque honey coloured Cotswold stone cottages which have lured visitors for centuries.

There is so much more to explore in the area with being at the tippy top of the Cotswolds, or if you just wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle to relax, then this place is for you.
